If after 6 years of international cricket and failing to perform consistently mr Karthik is still considered as youngster and talented, or if Mr Pathan is still living up to the reputation of IPL-1 or Vijay is still riding on the impressive 3 Test innings prompting many to call him next Dravid or Jadeja, if he still believes he can be a Jayasurya or a Kapil Dev, then lets think of following lads:
- Shikhar Dhawan
- Ajinkya Rahane
- Cheteshwar Pujara
- Manish Pandey
and others who play well in whatever opportunities they get.
The bowling cupboard looks bare and depressing. The frontline pacers are either injured, woeful form or busy in something non-cricketing. Not so long ago we had bench strength and onboard bowlers bustling with confidence and wickets. Now we see none of that.
Munaf Patel, Sreesanth, RP, Ishant, Irfan Pathan and Ashish Nehra. And the new pacers Dindi, Singh and Yadav. They miserably flopped, but they were new and should get more chances before giving a call on them and cull them..
Spinners. Wow. Empty and barren cupboards. One spinner lone on reputation, the other one who just got a beard went wicketless and IPL topper found no wickets bcos he does not know how to bowl against players who do not come from Sri Lanka (10 of 12 ODIs against Lanka).
The youth policy if implemented well would give desired results but if same players (read Chennai Super Kings and Tamil Nadu) are selected time and over again, then the results would no more be better than what we had here.
And now its time for the regulars to return and give us some sunshine back. Some hope back after a tiring and crappy IPL, disastrous World T20 and even more torturing Zimbabwe tour.
